How to fix : Web pages failing to load on computers and devices! (Fixing DNS problems)

I personally had horrible experience with my ISP’s DNS,
I don’t even want to talk about it. It failed majority of the time.

If your browser says ‘DNS Error’ and webpages will not load,
If you need to Refresh (F5) many times before the webpage loads,
If you cannot see images in the website and the page looks weird,
If your Appstore cannot download apps through Wi-Fi,
If your Google Playstore fails do download an app through Wi-Fi,
this is the fix for you.

There are two ways of doing this,
Do Fix1 if you have no clue how to navigate settings of your router.
Do Fix2 if you clearly know what you are doing with your router settings.

Fix 1.

Manually set DNS settings for your computer

STEP 1
Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Centre

STEP 2
On your left, click on ‘Change Adapter Settings’

STEP 3
There will be something like this, your local area network
K-1Right-click > Properties

STEP 4
Under ‘Networking’ tab, click on
K-1and press ‘Properties’, which is located below.

STEP 5
At the bottom, select ‘Use the following DNS server address’
and input the following (OpenDNS):

Preferred : 208.67.222.222
Alternative : 208.67.220.220

DONE-ZO.
For your mobile devices
like iPad and smartphones, the pathway to DNS settings differ according the device – so I cannot provide you an accurate guide.
But the main idea is the same here, manually type-in the DNS address in your network settings, and you’re done :P

Fix 2.

RouterRouterRouter

STEP 1
Go to your router settings (192.0.0.x, etc. Check your router for any address mentioned)
login to your router if necessary. (again, check your router for any admin account given)

STEP 2
Manually setup your internet – I don’t prefer automatic set-ups or wizards of some sort. This can be pretty sensitive stuff, you might as well set things manually for maximum accuracy.
Please don’t tell me computers are smarter than you.

Bitch please.

Bitch please.

STEP 3
Do NOT use the provided DNS (ie. Recieve DNS from ISP)
but use manual DNS setting, and type in the following :

Preferred : 208.67.222.222
Alternative : 208.67.220.220

DONE-ZO.
Profit.
This fixes the problem from the router itself therefore you do not need to manually set DNS address for connected devices.

I used OpenDNS in the example, you can use GoogleDNS also, which 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Go visit their website for more info
OpenDNS
GoogleDNS
